More safety with GOLDfren braided steel brake hoses - brake fluid exchange
Brakes servicing
One of conditions for perfect working of brakes is, that in the braking system mustn´t be the air. We can provide against it when we have enough brake fluid in the brake-fluid reservoir, which can stop the air sucking into the master cylinder from the reservoir and overpressure to pipeline.
The fluid is not running out during the using brakes and evaporating
is minimal.
The decrease can happen only because of the untightness or disconnection
of some part of braking system, e.g. during the reparation.
Decrease of fluid in the reservoir is groving automatically with abrasion
of brake shoes, when the fluid fills up the space of cylinders, which
are enlarging by the pistons advancing to diminishing brake-shoes.
Reservoir is common for both brake systems and for fluid system of clutch.
It´s in the main baggage hold (see the picture), closed under the screw
closure.
It´s made from the plastic material and you can see there the fluid through
saw-cuts in it´s fixing mantle. After the light part of the reservoir
appears , you should fill in the fluid.
Brake Fluid Exchange
There are several ways how to exchange brake fluid; let us mention two of them as examples.
- Unscrew the cover of the cup on the
lever and suck off all old brake fluid using a squirt
or a vacuum bleeder. Refill fresh brake fluid and loosen
the bleeding screw on the brake valve providing the latter
with a hose. Push the lever slowly up to its stop causing
a small quantity of brake fluid to flow out of the hose.
Hold the lever in its pushed position re-tightening the
bleeding screw and releasing the lever. Repeat this procedure
as long as the old brake fluid can be seen on the hose
outflow (the old brake fluid is considerably more contaminated
than the fresh one). Do not forget to check the new brake
fluid level in the tank to prevent the pump from unnecessary
sucking air into the system.
- Unscrew the cover and suck off old brake fluid. Provide the bleeding screw with a hose connected to a squirt filled with fresh brake fluid. Loosen the bleeding screw and slowly pump fresh brake fluid into the tank. Old brake fluid will flow out on the upper tank side into a suitable cup made ready for this purpose.
